A place where twilight glints off of twisted cobwebs
The stench of decades past,
A ‘70s chandelier
An inner dissension lingers here.
The skylight floods the greenhouse in an otherworldly light
Where rays of the moon force an ethereal containment of eternal design
A son visits his mother and pays his debts at her shrine.
She remembers a time that has come and gone
Of a retrospective love that has long since dawned
Of journeys and friendships that had spoiled
Where she had been left in a sickly recoil
Forever separated by the fabric of time
Trapped as a phantom in the night
Living the same existence forever
As sons and daughters grow older, ghostly mothers remain the same
The hands of life construct
A wicked game
Pieces of her crystallized love fall like snow
The phantom in the night calls out in longing
Emitting a hazy glow
His warm heart grew in defiance of the pale moon
Of plans made and plans lost
Of love melting the permafrost
He knows everyday he must pay the cost
Where hearts are perpetually between love and loss
