A Sight He Can’t See
She watches him from eye to eye,
a quiet sigh and a losing fight.
Her heart is closed, yet it waits for him.
But he drifts his own way, unaware,
and she’s still lost on this past year’s Valentine’s Day air.
He laughs, he sings, oblivious to her silent commenting,
unaware of how much she cares.
She is just a shadow caught in his laughter;
a fleeting thought he forgets after.
Her love for him endures through an endless storm,
yearning to stand beside his form.
But deep down, she knows that it lasts too long–
so he holds the umbrella, keeping another warm.
Despite it all, though it hurts to say,
she’ll stay and hope that, someday,
he might finally turn her way—
to see the girl who loved him secretly;
with an endless burn,
and oh-so-fearlessly.
