(Content Warning: guns, school shooting)

They should have noticed it when I was young.

Who’ll be there (my mother didn’t believe me)

to note my absence if I’m gone?

Who’ll keep me after class to ask what’s wrong

(100 rounds in 2 ½ minutes in rooms 111 and 112)

if I steal my grandma’s car for fun?

I’ll play hooky tomorrow, the bell’s just rung

(children are screaming, teachers are bleeding)

to let to the kids out, watch everyone run

down the halls towards the doors that are swung

(lock the doors, hide under your desks)

open.  On my eighteenth birthday no one sang

for me but I can buy a lotto ticket or a gun

(19 children and 2 adults dead)

on my way home from school, register W4200391.

Who’ll put me in detention where I belong,

or ask my mom to put me in counseling (she never believed me) –

They’d never know if I was gone,

They should have noticed it when I was young.
