When I hurt
I try and make myself hurt deeper
See if it is possible to excavate this pain all at once
But it still keeps bleeding
So I cut away at barely healed scar tissue
Carve a scalpel into my chest and hope that there is nothing left
There is always more pain inside this large frame I call a body
And in all the curves I try to push down come up like heads to the surface of a glass lake
We all expected that I would be the first one to break
You did like the morning after a storm
Into her open waiting arms
There was not enough time in your world for me
But she
She fills you in the way I used to
I wonder if you’ll love her more
That you’ll take her in your arms and whisper it in her ear
She’ll choke you in love because that’s the way you like it
